What I Bought
I have 2 lawn mowers.
The first, which I now use for trimming, is
an
MTD gas powered push walk behind lawn mower with a Honda engine
.
It is an amazing mulcher and, with the Honda engine, starts the first time
every time. I live in a cold climate and store it outdoors. In
the spring I take it out of storage and it will start on the first or
second pull. After that it always starts on the first pull. I
did install a set of after market mulching blades which improves the
mulching - it does great on grass and on leaves in the fall. I no
longer rake leaves - I mulch them. Where did I get it and what did I
pay?
I bought it at Sam's Club for $200.
$200 for a great mulcher with a Honda engine - I'm thrilled. The
only mistake I made is not buying self-propelled. The mower is fine
- I'm just getting lazy!
What is my other mower?
My other mower is a John Deere LA110.
It is an automatic drive riding lawn mower - lawn tractor. It starts
quickly, turns on a dime and has a very comfortable seat. I have a
half acre lot and can cut it in as little as 30 minutes. If I slow
down and enjoy the ride it's more like 45 minutes. It is a very good
mulcher but not perfect. If the grass gets too long I run over the
yard twice and then all the grass clippings are mulched and
invisible. I am very pleased with my John Deere. Where did I
get it and what did I pay?
I bought it at Lowe's who is an authorized
John Deere dealer. I paid $1350 during an end of season sale and a
Lowe's discount program.
So shop around, surf
the web and learn all you can. In the end buy the performance you
want. After a few uses you'll be reminded of the performance you
bought, not the money you saved. In other words. a good deal on a
bad mower is a bad deal - and you'll live with it for years. Step
up, get the performance you want and your happiness will guarantee it
was a best buy lawn mower for you and your lawn.
